Cat suspicions.

I've been letting Pumpkin into the house on a trial basis. It's been a miserable flop. Harley - no problem, Yoshka adores that hunk. But Pumpkin is her rival - for what I don't know. So, while Yoshka is asleep in the afternoon, I let Pumpkin into the kitchen.Although her arch-rival has long gone out into the freezing cold. It shouldn't have to be so hard and it's certainly not how I imagined it could work out.

At about 5 o'clock Yoshka goes down to the kitchen for a bit to eat, finds Pumpkin there and bolts into the back room to hide.

Pumpkin meanwhile is doing all the things I wanted her not to do: jumping up on the kitchen counters, sitting on the table and trying to open the kitchen door to take control of the rest of the house. Hours after I put Pumpkin out, Yoshka is still there, at the top of the stairs now, sticking her head out through the banisters and watching. And waiting.

How the cat world should be, envisaged by a human: Pumpkin, sitting on a cushion in the kitchen, behaving herself. Harley, asleep on the next cushion on a neighbouring chair. Yoshka sleeping on the bed upstairs.
